The Rules for 2009 Grocery Budget

As I mentioned the other day I am going to try to stick to a budget of $800 for the year. There are some guidelines that I have set for myself to follow and am posting so everyone is aware of my rules:

Items included in this budget:
  • food
  • health and beauty
  • pet food
  • household cleaning
  • paper goods

Excluded from $800 budget:
  • Kitty litter
  • Alcohol
The $800 cash that has been budgeted and put in an account can be added to only by the following means:
  • giftcards that are earned or received
  • money received back from rebates
  • money received back from ebates
I know Erin over at Jane4Girls does her budget a little differently and includes any fast food or restaurant dining in her $800 for a year... which I must say is SUPER impressive. While my budget plan is inspired by hers I'm going to try things my way. I am including these costs in a small separate entertainment budget for this year.

Had to laugh at the alcohol and kitty litter. Kitty litter is such a budget buster!!! Well, then again so is alcohol. Haha!

I know they are both killers lol... there is no way I'd have a chance of making the budget with those two in it!

Hello.
I came across your blog trough EC. Your logo was in one of my blog´s inbox, thanks for dropping by.
Trough your post, I just meet the 800 budget mom and her blog. I read many of her posts and already learned a few tips.
Although my country is totally different when it comes to coupons and promotions, I will keep my eyes wide open to see if I can save even more.
Good luck for your challenge, it´s not easy but also not impossible.
The cat litter really made me wonder...:)
Best Regards. Mizé.
